GEDIK EDUCATION AND SOCIAL BENEFITS FOUNDATION (GEV)
GEV has realized intensive efforts with the Ministry of National Education, institutions of higher education and private sector establishments ever since the day it was established. Many successful projects such as schools, dormitories, vocational training centers and educational institutions that provide services that are geared for the handicapped are amongst these efforts.
The Foundation has completed the following educational facility projects and donated them to Turkish education system along the lines of social responsibility understanding:
- Vala Gedik Elementary School and Business College (Istanbul,1996)
- Vala Gedik Elementary School and Business College (Usak, 1999)
- Ercan Görür Elementary School (Istanbul, 1999)
- Vala Gedik Secondary Education Girl Dormitory (Usak, 2005)
- Vala Gedik Secondary Education Boy Dormitory (Usak 2005)
- Vala Gedik High School (Usak, 2006)
- Uşak 1 September University, Faculty of Education, Halil Kaya Gedik Education Block (Usak, 2006)
- Halil Kaya Gedik Technical and Industry Vocational High School (Istanbul, 2009)
- Halil Kaya Gedik Anatolia Vocational High School (Istanbul, 2009)
GEV has been a Responsible Member of IIW from Turkey since July, 2008. International Welding Engineering (IWE) diploma education which is valid all around the world, has been organized by GEV since March, 2009. This training program is direct contribution for a production with higher quality and reduction of unemployment. GEV is going to provide this training at major cities of Anatolia and thereby, is going to contribute to the regional need for welding engineers and development.
Additionally the Foundation organizes various courses that are geared towards welders and teachers that provide welding education at schools that are affiliated with the Ministry of National Education.
Additionally, “Turkish Welding Technology Academy (TKTA) which aims to serve the Turkish welding sector by creating a network in Turkey, realizing the transfer and development of technology among its members by providing for the exchange of knowledge, setting up regulations that will provide for the provision of welding education within international standards and applications as a global body, was established by the initiative of GEV in parallel with IIW membership.
GEV currently contains two other activity areas namely; Commercial Enterprise and GEDİK Vocational School of Higher. Turkish Destructive and Nondestructive Inspection Education Documentation and Industrial Service Center (TTM), Quality Systems Documentation Center (KSBM) that makes efforts that are geared towards the certification of companies that do welded manufacturing and International Welding Coordination Personnel IIW Authorized Training Board (GEV-ATB) are units that are active within the structure of the GEV Commercial Enterprise.
This structuring which is under the roof of Gedik Education and Social Benefits Foundation was constituted with the vision of generating “systematic solution” in the welding sector and it is based on the sharing of experience and knowledge within the Holding.
TURKISH DESTRUCTIVE & NONDESTRUCTIVE INSPECTION EDUCATION DOCUMENTATION INDUSTRIAL SERVICE CENTER (TTM)
Turkish Destructive & Nondestructive Inspection Education, Documentation and Industrial Service Center (TTM), is one of the commercial enterprises of GEV. TTM aims to be preferred establishment in the national and international arena with its modern laboratories, equipments, tools/materials, classrooms and expert technical and teaching personnel all of which meet international standards.
While TTM is performing its industrial services, destructive and nondestructive inspections with modern laboratories and apparatuses, it gives its preparation (WPS) and verification (WPS) of welding methods, determination and evaluation of condition and inspection services to various sectors. In addition to these, it also presents corrosion control and inspection and third party inspection services.
TTM has included the documentation of companies that do welded production with the ISO 3834 certificate in its field of activities. It aims at providing exclusive and high quality test, inspection, education, documentation and certification services to all welded and non welded metallic structures, individuals and company personnel. TTM which generates “system solution” which is based on GEDİK experience in quality, expertise and structural safety, serves all sectors of industry and works with other NDT companies by establishing partnerships for major projects both within and outside of Turkey.
GEDİK VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF HIGHER EDUCATION
GEV has constructed and donated numerous education facilities to the government with the purpose of contributing to Turkish education system. Recently, it opened Gedik Vocational School of Higher Education for the 2010-2011 School Year, in Istanbul.
Gedik Holding is aiming to transfer nearly half a century of accumulated knowledge and experience to the young people who are receiving training at the Gedik Vocational School of Higher Education with the strategic partnership of Gedik Holding companies. Gedik Vocational School for Higher Education acts with the mission of gaining young people, who have vocational knowledge and skills that meet international standards in the areas where they are needed the most in this country. With the importance it places on applied education, Gedik Vocational School of Higher Education constitutes an exemplar model for Industry – University cooperation and has taken its place amongst the establishments of Gedik Holding, which are the initiators of “firsts”.
